Michael Briggs, also known as Santa Michael of New Mexico, has been bringing the spirit of Christmas to families, businesses, and communities for decades.
A retired elementary school teacher of over 30 years, Michael’s journey as Santa Claus began in 1982 when he portrayed the jolly old elf at Coronado Center Mall during the Christmas season. What started as a seasonal role quickly grew into a lifelong passion. Over the years, he appeared at numerous corporate functions, professional photo shoots, charity events, and community celebrations, sharing joy and creating lasting memories for children and adults alike.
In 2017, Michael began performing as Santa full-time. Since then, he has had the privilege of appearing at corporate events, private parties, home visits, television commercials, tree-lighting ceremonies, community festivals, and many other special occasions throughout New Mexico.
Michael is a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Real Bearded Santas (IBRBS) through the New Mexico Chapter. The IBRBS is the world’s largest organization of professional, real-bearded Santas dedicated to promoting excellence, authenticity, and the true spirit of Christmas.
He has also graduated from several Christmas Performers Workshops to hone his craft. During his off season, he follows other Santas’ blogs and continues to learn and build on his skills.
Whether visiting with children, greeting guests at a corporate event, or helping create magical holiday memories, Santa Michael is committed to delivering an authentic, heartwarming experience that captures the wonder and joy of the Christmas season.
Santa Michael attended my mom’s 79th birthday party. This was a family party in our home, and my mother has always been a Santa Claus fan, so this was a very special birthday for her. My five grandkids were also in attendance, and Santa Claus read them a great story and interacted with them so well. What a great family memory for all of us! Thank you, Santa!
Renee OchoaSanta Michael is absolutely the best. We hired him to secretly go to my family’s Christmas Eve party, since we were not able to make it. Not only did he go the extra mile to make it special for them, he went the extra ten miles. Prior to the event he thought of and worked on ways to make it very unique and personalized and fun. He took the time to put things together and even delivered gifts to the children that we had sent to the house in advance. It was so far above what we could have possibly expected. We couldn’t be more delighted. I have a large family and everyone just loved him and raved about how wonderful it was having him there. Thank you, Santa Michael!

Jared Vander DussenSanta Michael came over for a Christmas party. He was very accommodating, since we had presents for the kids and a birthday surprise. He was also very intuitive with kids as well. He mentioned to my youngest, “What if your gift is a Gila monster?” My youngest LOVES Gila monsters. The fact that he brought it up shocked even my husband and I. If you are looking for someone that is gentle, kind, and brings the magic of Christmas, then Santa Michael is the Santa for you!
